Well, received my card in the mail last week, after a LONG delay. Was surprised that no literature
that describes coverage was included! Asked at the hospital where I had an outstanding bill; they said my amount due them was covered. BUT, they have not idea what is covered, & what is not. They just summit everything to Medicaid, & bill the patient what is refused ! Called ALL the available numbers to Medicaid, and was bounced to other numbers; the end result was that "there is no booklet/info. pack/etc. available". My doctor had no idea either. Stopped by the local welfare office to ask, same answer. I don't want to get stuck with a $12,000.00 bill for a trip to the E.R. Does anyone know of a reliable source of :)info. on this matter ?

Medicare Part A should cover approximately 80% of any hospital stay. The other 20% is on you unless you've purchased one of those extended coverage plans (Medicare Part B plans) that covers most or all of that 20%. I have no clue about Emergency Room coverage without actual hospital admittance, under Medicare.

I posted this on TNet a month ago. Be aware with Medicare!!! www.nbcnews.com/video/nightly-news/54026469#54026469NBC News (Brian Williams Newscast) For people on Medicare: If you are a Medicare patient at a Hospital or Therapy Center, read the FINE PRINT before you sign any papers. There is wording that says that you are an "Inpatient" or "Under Observation." If the wording is in the form states that you are entering the facility "Under Observation," you will wind up paying a major portion of the bill for any length of stay. The wording on the form must state that you are an Inpatient in order for Medicare to pay the bill. They told the story about an elderly lady who had therapy for knees and it stated that she was "under observation" and she had to pay a bill of $28,000. Her husband had Parkinson's Disease and they had to move in with their son in Dallas. Big changes in healthcare for 2014. We must all be educated as to what is going on.

Thanks for all the replies. Guess I'll have to keep pestering the system to get something in writing.
